Context
Tag two hundred repositories without a form
What a repository holds is the single piece of context that changes how every finding in it should be ranked, and almost nobody wants to enter it through a web form two hundred times. Most organizations already have the answers in an asset list somewhere.
What to do
-
Open Tagging and press Export CSV. What comes out is every repository the scanner has seen, with the columns already filled in where something is known.
-
Fill in what you know. An empty cell leaves the existing value alone, which means a partial spreadsheet is a safe thing to import.
-
To clear a value rather than leave it, put a single dash in the cell.
-
For what a repository holds, separate several values with a pipe:
Cardholder data|Personal data. -
Press Import CSV and choose the file. It updates repositories that already exist and reports the rows it could not use rather than stopping at the first one.
Worth knowing
The import can only update. It will never create a repository, because a repository in this product means one the scanner actually found, and inventing them would make the estate look bigger than it is.
